In the House of August:

BLOODBOUND: Act One

In a world ruled by a bloodline worshipped as gods, faith is a weapon, and empire is built on obedience. The powerful twist religion into war, colonization, and control...and the only thing more dangerous than defiance...is belief.

If you love fantasy, philosophy, drama and betrayal...

Told through multiple points of view, Bloodbound draws inspiration from societies and events like the Holy Roman Empire, the Sunni–Shia divide, the Anglo-Saxons, the colonization of Indigenous peoples, and other impactful portions of history to create an intriguing world that incapsulates all of humanity's darkest aspects. It’s a fantasy grounded in history, where magic is absent — but cruelty, conviction, and ambition are not.

ALL HAIL THE SUN KING

As the empire rots behind golden altars, two cousins walk divergent paths. Aryn, quiet and conscience-bound, sees the sickness in the bloodline he was born to uphold. Olivus, proud and promising, is sharpened into something crueler under the watchful eye of the Sun King—Leto, the sterile god-ruler who clings to legacy like a dying star. While lords scheme and temples burn, far from the courts, a mountain girl named Amira watches the world fracture—and prepares to strike it where it’s weakest.

About the Author

I am Jacob, a 20 year old psychology student from Canada. My first published work came when I was seven years old, though I doubt (thankfully) that you could ever find that.Above all else, my greatest inspiration is George R. R. Martin and his Song of Ice and Fire series, though I also drew heavily on Frank Herbert, Dostoyevsky, Bram Stoker and Madeline Miller and probably about a hundred other authors and philosophers for my first attempt at a real, full-fledged novel.Bloodbound has been my passion for the last year or so of my life, and I hope it can be yours to.Every book deserves to be read.See you July 24.
